I was at the Stow Library last night reading in the magazine section while the kids were engaged with a “Find Your Fandom” event. I was reading the National Geographic issue on women when I came across some story on the Marines (The Fight), and how they’ve integrated women into almost all forms of combat roles.
And there it was.
Tattooed on the leg of a Marine (carrying another on her back) was a statement in ink that sums up how I function. It struck me like a bolt of lighting! My fire burned even brighter!
“the fire inside me burns brighter than the fire around me”
.
I almost fell out of my chair. And then I shared it with a like minded colleague, along with some expletives about how perfect it describes how we both feel about what we do professionally.
I’ll have to decompress for a few days reflecting on this. Writing this is a good start…
