Food Market

On Monday February 20, 2012 my family and I went to the Whole Food Market in Cleveland Ohio. That was the first time that I have ever been to a market like that. It was amazing how huge it was and it had such a wide variety of foods. My favorite part of the experience was the ad that I saw in the store to rent cattle to mow your lawn. I thought that it was an interesting way to do yard work. Also, the Whole Food Market promoted organic and locally grown foods. I thought that this was a great way to boost local farmers and create a good economy.

Wingfoot State Park

On our Going Places park picnic where we showed our presentations I found the Wingfoot Park presentation interesting. We had our picnic there, and it was easy to see the wide range of activities available to do there. While there my family and I played putt-putt golf and admired being the spacious park. That was one of the few times that I have actually been in a state park. The beautiful scenery caught my attention and what I found more interesting was the history of the park. It was a very educational experience and I’m glad my family had the chance to experience it.

States

This past weekend I have had the privilege to watch my team down at the states track meet. I have watched my team compete in the past but this was the first time that I was able to attend the state meet for track. This year we had our boys 4×800 meter relay, a boys 800 meter runner, and a girls 300 meter hurdler make it to the states meet. It is here where I watched amazed and many runners this weekend broke state and stadium records.

Notre Dame College

One day in February my family also visited Notre Dame College. This was a fun educational visit to learn about the college and what it has to offer. What I found most interesting was the history of the buildings and the college itself. The college was a beautiful campus in Cleveland, Ohio. It is a rather small school but has a lot to offer.

Firestone Stadium

This weekend, my mom, sister and I went to watch a professional softball game. I have been to a few Akron Racers games myself, but this was my sister’s first. It was fun explaining what was going on to my sister, who is just starting her first year of softball.

First Tournament

My softball team had our first tournament of the summer this weekend and I did not plan on this being an ILE, but I realized I learned a lot of new things these past two days and figured I would write about them!

Donut making at St. Barnabas

Every since my childhood donut Sunday has been my favorite day of the month. Before I moved to Sagamore Hills I lived in Garfield and went to church regularly at St. Monica’s. Their donut Sundays were huge the whole cafiteria would be full. they had three feet by four feet boxes full of any donut you could imagine: sprinkled, jelly filled, maple frosted.

Las Vegas

I’ve recently taken a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada! Las Vegas is one of the most energetic places I have ever been. There are so many hotels and casinos with so many different things to do! When we were there, we went around to all the different hotels checking out how different each place was.  Although the hotels were very interesting, one of my favorite buildings was the Stratosphere! This building is one of Las Vegas hot spot! On the top of this building you will find three thrill hides, two of which my brother and I rode.  The first is insanity, my favorite.

It’s a massive claw expanding 64 ft off the edge of the building at a height of 900 feet! This ride spins you around up to speeds of three G’s! It propels you at a 70 degree angle positioning your body straight down. Although this was one of the most terrifying moments of my life, the view from this ride was unbelievable. You experience a spectacular view of historic downtown Las Vegas. The next ride was called X-Scream! This ride like a teeter- totter, only being 866 feet in the air. It propels you 27 feet over the edge of the Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower.

NCYC

This past year I have been very fortunate to experience NCYC in Indianapolis, Indiana. NCYC stands for National Catholic Youth Conference. I attended it in November of 2011 with my parish of St. Barnabas. It was an amazing 3 day pilgrimage and a great learning experience.
