GLE – Guided Learning Experience
Any time you meet with us in person for a trip, you’re on a GLE, or a Guided Learning Experience. We will plan for a few of these throughout the year, and your expected / encouraged to attend as many as can.
We plan the trip, and in doing so, we will guide the learning by taking you to place, and pointing out all the neat stuff. On other occasions, you’ll come with us for kayaking, or horseback riding, and that would count as a GLE as well.
Assignments for GLEs:
- Usually, we will supply one or two questions for you to reflect on.
- We ask that you take an active part of our events, take pictures, etc, and add those items / reflections / comments to your posts.
ILE – Individual Learning Experience
During the year, you will have the opportunity to go on your own learning experiences, or trips that you can go on individually. In this case, we may or may not be there, and you will experience the ‘place’ on your own. During these times, it’s crucial that you take an even more active role in your learning, and make sure you make it worth it to you.
Throughout the year, we will have multiple ILEs available for you to explore. For each one, you’ll be able to go to it at any time, so you can make your own schedule! If you want to go early in the morning, or later in the day – no problem!
Assignments for ILEs:
- Usually, there will be some areas we’d like you to address in your post-trip reflection.
- To prove that you actually went on the ILE, you’ll have to take a picture of yourself in front of wherever you are, and add that photo to your post. We have cameras for you to borrow, or you may use your own. Cell phone pictures are okay!
